What is Literature?
Literature word deriving from the Latin littera, “a letter of the alphabet,” literature is first and foremost humankind’s entire body of writing; after that it is the body of writing belonging to a given language or people; then it is individual pieces of writing.
Basically, Literature is an art that reflects the works of imagination, aesthetics and creative writing which are distinguished for the beauty of style or expression.
Ancient philosopher Aristotle defines literature as a means of imitating reality through the use of language, and he identifies several different literary genres, including tragedy, comedy, and epic poetry.
Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary: “Literature can be defined as piece of writing that are valued as works of art. especially novels, plays and poems.”
Oscar Wilde: “Literature always anticipates life. It does not copy it but molds it to its purpose.

अदबियत क्या है?
यह हिन्दुस्तानी भाषा की एक मानकीकृत रूप मानी जाती है। उर्दू में संस्कृत के तत्सम शब्द न्यून हैं और अरबी-फ़ारसी और संस्कृत से तद्भव शब्द अधिक हैं।
